GEORGETOWN, Guyana — The government of Guyana announced on Saturday that it has accepted the initial group of deportees originating from the United States as part of a third-country removal initiative under the Trump administration. Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud confirmed that six individuals, hailing from Cuba and Afghanistan, landed in the South American nation on Friday following a comprehensive screening process by local authorities.
Persaud stated that the vetted arrivals were cleared after officials determined they possessed no criminal records. According to the Foreign Secretary, the six foreign nationals were expelled from the United States primarily due to administrative immigration violations rather than criminal activity.
