Bahamian singer Iris Stryx is bridging Caribbean musical styles by teaming up with Jamaican reggae icon Sizzla for an introspective upcoming project. According to the Jamaica Observer, the Bahamian artist traveled directly to Jamaica for the recording sessions with Sizzla, shifting her creative direction from her earlier sultry pop and R&B-infused projects toward a deeply spiritual and personal theme.

Stryx previously released successful regional US market tracks such as 'Enchanting' and 'No Regrets' following a promotional visit to Kingston earlier in the year. However, for her latest work, she sought a different flavor. According to the singer, the upcoming record focuses heavily on confronting hidden parts of oneself, surviving difficult experiences, and understanding that personal growth is an ongoing, continuous process.

Explaining her choice of collaborator, Stryx stated that reggae serves as an essential part of her foundational Caribbean musical language. She believes that Sizzla, renowned for conscious anthems like 'Black Woman And Child' and 'Solid As A Rock', brings a distinct spiritual depth and cultural conviction that will add significant power to the new track.

Raised in Nassau, the Bahamas, Stryx draws her artistic inspiration from a diverse range of genres, including indigenous Goombay and Junkanoo sounds, Eastern Caribbean soca, Jamaican dancehall-reggae, American hip hop, and West African Afrobeats. While dancehall often informs the rhythm and energy of her music, she noted that reggae contributes a necessary honesty and consciousness that speaks directly to real life.

As details of the collaboration were published on September 14, 2026, Stryx emphasized her desire to defy rigid genre boundaries. She stated that she wants the upcoming music to feel deeply Caribbean at its core while maintaining the universal appeal to travel anywhere in the world. Currently, further specifics regarding a concrete release date or track title remain unannounced.
