Fashion, philanthropy, and community support will intersect in New York next month as the third annual Recovery to Runway Brunch raises critical funds to clear, equip, and deploy a newly arrived mobile breast cancer screening unit in Jamaica. Hosted by Stoosh Boutique, the event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 6 p.m. at The Cottage at Milleridge Inn in Jericho, N.Y.
According to boutique owner Patrice Fernandez-Dacosta, donations from last year's gathering successfully secured the mobile unit, which has reached Kingston and is currently awaiting customs clearance. Organized in partnership with the Organization for International Development, this year's installment will feature a fashion show, live entertainment, dining, a vendor marketplace, and heartfelt tributes to survivors to help bring vital early detection services directly to women across the island.
