Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has secured the Best Caribbean Music Act title at the 2026 MOBO Awards, marking another significant milestone in his legendary career. The milestone ceremony, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the event founded by Kanya King, took place at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom.
Kartel triumphed over a heavily competitive shortlist that featured regional peers including Masicka, Shenseea, Lila Iké, Ayetian, and Trinidad and Tobago's Yung Bredda. The victory highlights the enduring global footprint of the self-proclaimed 'Worl' Boss' and the broader evolution of the award category, which was previously known as Best Reggae Act before being renamed Best Caribbean Music Act.
While Kartel claimed the regional trophy, he was unsuccessful in his bid for Best International Act, a category ultimately won by Nigerian singer Ayra Starr. Meanwhile, Olivia Dean emerged as the biggest winner of the evening, capturing three awards including Best New Artist.
This latest recognition follows Kartel's receipt of the MOBO Impact Award in 2025. With multiple past nominations and continued dominance across the global dancehall landscape, the victory further cements his permanent legacy in Black music and culture.
