MP Brian Manning has rejected the People’s National Movement’s plan for San Fernando East party‑group elections, demanding a suspension until the party explains why 15 groups were left out. The internal voting schedule runs from September 4 through October 10 to pave the way for constituency executive elections, following a verification report reviewed by the Central Executive and confirmed at a special general council meeting.
Tensions in the San Fernando East unit previously surfaced in June when Manning and a counterpart named Alexis filed mutual grievances, including Manning's objection to an improperly handled by‑election. While a panel featuring deputy leaders Jennifer Baptiste‑Primus and Sanjiv Boodhu investigated those earlier claims and found no proof of wrongdoing, Manning's latest push questions the verification methodology and the exclusion of the specific party groups.
