Jamaica’s leading telecom provider, Liberty Business, has officially launched a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), giving local companies and government agencies direct access to AWS cloud and AI services through Liberty’s own network, data centres and support teams. The move, announced Thursday by senior director Charles Manus, is part of a five‑year strategic collaboration signed in February between AWS and Liberty Latin America, the Nasdaq‑listed parent of Liberty Caribbean. A similar launch took place in Barbados in July, and the Jamaican rollout extends the regional agreement.
Manus said the goal is to help Jamaican businesses move beyond basic connectivity to become more agile, intelligent and competitive. Customers will be able to tap into a full suite of services – cloud advisory, migration support, managed cloud operations, hybrid cloud and disaster recovery – all billed locally through a single provider. The partnership deploys AWS Outposts to keep data within specified borders, addressing strict data‑residency rules that affect regulated sectors such as finance and government.
Financial terms and specific customer targets were not disclosed by either company. The partnership is expected to accelerate digital transformation across the island, enabling enterprises to leverage advanced cloud infrastructure while maintaining compliance with local data‑protection requirements.
