St Catherine‑based Dunbeholden FC has appointed former player Alex Thomas as head coach for the 2026‑27 Jamaica Premier League (JPL) campaign. Thomas has set a clear target: finish in the top six by the end of the regular season and secure a return to the playoffs, the club’s first qualification in three years.
The club’s last playoff appearance came in the 2022‑23 season, when they were eliminated in the quarter‑finals by eventual champions Mount Pleasant. In 2021‑22 Dunbeholden were runners‑up, losing the final to Harbour View, but the subsequent seasons have seen a decline.
After the 2023‑24 campaign, the team finished eighth, followed by a tenth‑place finish in 2024‑25, and a ninth‑place position in the most recent 2025‑26 season. The board’s mandate for Thomas was issued before the start of the 2026‑27 campaign, emphasizing a return to the top tier of the league table.
Thomas said he will focus on strengthening the squad’s defensive solidity and creating a more dynamic attacking platform. With the JPL’s playoff format admitting the top six clubs, a top‑six finish is within reach if the team can reverse its recent slide.
