A US Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Borinquen successfully medevaced a 66-year-old female passenger from the dive yacht Turks and Caicos Explorer II on Wednesday afternoon. Sector San Juan watchstanders coordinated the operation after receiving a distress request reporting that the woman had aspirated water while snorkeling approximately 200 nautical miles northwest of Puerto Rico, and her medical condition required immediate advanced care.

Upon arriving at the scene, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer evaluated the patient and safely hoisted her into the aircraft using a rescue basket. The patient was then flown directly to Centro Medico Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Petty Officer 3rd Class Judson Swift commended the aircrew for their exceptional teamwork and technical expertise during the long-range maritime rescue mission.
